Job Title:          Structured Cabling Project Manager (Data Centre Construction Projects)
Location:          Site Based in Slough, UK

The Opportunity: We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Structured Cabling Project Manager to oversee complex data and fibre cabling installations within our client's cutting-edge data centre projects in Slough. This is a critical role for an individual with a proven track record in managing large-scale structured cabling projects from conception to completion, particularly within the demanding data centre environment. You will be instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality infrastructure for our high-profile customers.  

Ideal Qualifications (Highly Desirable):

• RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer): Demonstrates a deep understanding of telecommunications distribution design principles.
• PRINCE2 (or equivalent Project Management Certification): Validates expertise in structured project management methodologies.
• CNIDP (Certified Network Infrastructure Design Professional): Further enhances design and infrastructure knowledge.
• Valid ECS Card: Must hold a valid Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) card.

Key Responsibilities:   Project Leadership & Management:

• Take full ownership of structured cabling projects within large data centre builds, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.
• Lead and motivate project teams, including internal staff and subcontractors.

Stakeholder Liaison & Communication:

• Act as the primary point of contact for structured cabling aspects, liaising extensively with main contractors, other on-site contractors, and end-clients.
• Facilitate effective communication channels to ensure seamless project coordination and issue resolution.

Financial Management:

• Manage project financials, including budget forecasting, cost control, variation management, and invoicing.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring project profitability. 

Subcontractor Management:

• Oversee the selection, negotiation, and management of structured cabling subcontractors.
• Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure adherence to contractual obligations and quality standards.

Progress Tracking & Reporting:

• Implement robust systems for tracking project progress against milestones and KPIs.
• Prepare and present regular, comprehensive progress reports to internal and external stakeholders.

Technical Expertise:

• Provide expert guidance and oversight on all aspects of structured cabling, including copper, fibre, and specialist data/fibre cabling for a variety of services.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

Quality Assurance:

• Implement and enforce stringent quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to design specifications and workmanship standards.

Risk Management:

• Proactively identify potential risks and challenges, developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies.

Commercial Acumen:

• Demonstrate strong commercial awareness in all project decisions, identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost optimisation.
• Manage contractual agreements and ensure compliance.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

• Extensive Experience: A minimum of 10 years of dedicated project management experience within structured cabling, specifically focused on large-scale data centre projects.
• Structured Cabling Expertise: A comprehensive and in-depth background in the design, installation, and testing of structured cabling systems (copper and fibre) for a variety of services within mission-critical environments.
• Data Centre Project Experience: Proven experience in managing structured cabling installations within large, complex data centre construction projects.
• Construction Project Experience: Demonstrable experience in managing projects within a construction site environment, understanding site logistics, health and safety regulations, and construction timelines.
• Commercial Background: Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record in managing project financials, contracts, and commercial negotiations.
• Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with main contractors, clients, and subcontractors.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving project challenges.
• Self-Motivated & Adaptable: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, demonstrating strong organizational skills and adaptability.
• Health & Safety: A strong understanding of health & safety practices and regulations pertinent to construction and data centre environments.
