iCobus Limited are recruiting Data Centre Support Engineers to join our team of Engineers working in Europe. These positions requires the successful applicant to be away from home for weeks at a time. Travel, accommodation and living allowance provided.
Purpose of the job:
To provide 2nd level and network cabling support within the Data Centre. This will include being responsible for providing technical assistance and overall support to the Data Centre customers, including the installation of racks, housing Telco and computer equipment. This individual is also responsible for the ongoing process of monitoring, and ensuring the successful operation of the installed customer equipment, networks and network cabling.
Your Job Responsibilities will be:
+ Monitoring and troubleshooting:
2nd Level Support Engineers shall be responsible for maintaining and reacting to established monitoring and alarming systems. Escalating calls in a timely and orderly manner will be essential.
+ Support to Data Centre Operations:
Responsible for managing and implementing all installations as required by the Data Centre Operations team. Providing Level I Engineers with technical support and guidance in problem resolution and installations.
+ Knowledge and use of the Heat System:
This is and integral part of the operation and the technician will be expected to fully utilize the system to its capabilities and ensuring accuracy of data at all times. Recording of rack inventory, cable management and problem history will all be involved.
+ Communications:
Engineers must have excellent customer communication skills, be able to work effectively with customers and work "potentially volatile" issues, in a calm and controlled manner.
Engineers will be called upon to produce a daily report and must have a good working knowledge of system security/practices including password management, data security and discrete working practices where they are privilege to confidential information.
+ Quality
Ensure that all Operational Procedures in accordance with the Quality Management system, are strictly adhered to, escalating any issues to the Team Leader / Datacentre Manager where applicable. Must have Experience:
+ Ideally from a Data Cabling background, installing network cabling, racking, stacking and patching.
+ Must have min 2-3 years experience, working in a live data centre environment in similar role.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with good customer service experience.
+ Extensive computer knowledge and familiarity (Windows NT, 2000 & XP)
+ Installing, terminating and testing CAT6, CAT6A, Voice, Fibre and able to Fluke Test & fault finding.
